Frisky's editor Amelia is turning 30 in a few short weeks and her essay on the subject really resonated with Frisky readers, both younger and older than 30. With that in mind, we’ll be reposting our “30 Before 30” series, which originally ran late last year, over the next few weeks. Enjoy!

Michelle Obama Covers Glamour

The First Lady looks darling in her Jason Wu dress. I hear she really opens up in this article and talks about how to deal with relationships issues and gives relationship advice and tips to us young ladies. I love that the Obama’s are breaking many old traditions and really trying to build relationships with Americans by being personable, so we together can make our nation better.

Around The World With 9 West for Spring

Shoenista's, I am happy to report Nine West is finally back to making cute shoes. There new 2010 spring collection will hit stores and appear online in March. This new wordly collection features a wide selection of materials (suede, leather, metallics, cloth), as well as color choices, beading, patchwork and cultural designs to choose from.  They previewed a few flast but since I'm a heels type of gal (5'1) those are most of what you will see featured on this site :-).

Previews from NineWest 2010 Spring Collection

I loved 9west since I can remember, but in recent seasons I've felt disconnected with there collections. I was a diehard Nine West shoe wearer for several years; especially senior year of high school thru junior year of college. It probably helped that I worked in their retails stores in San Antonio and Atlanta, so I got a great discount and I made good use of it.

Over the summer I visited the Mall of GA location several times only to walk out empty handed. Since seeing the spring 2010 collection, empty handed I will be no more. The powers that be developed some fun and classy shoes for the spring 2010 collection. I think these new shoes will definitely get some of there old customers like me back in the door.

This new collection did so well that Nordstrom will have an exclusive selection of Nine West shoes in there stores. That is a very big deal. Congrats to Nine West for stepping there shoe game back up. I wish the collection and future collections much success.

MJB opens up The Mary J Blige Center in Yonkers

I love when celebrities use there star power and money to advocate for a cause bigger than themselves. Mary J Blige who is gearing up for up for her ninth studio album in December, just celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony for a new facility in Yonkers New York for the non-profit that she and music executive Steve Stoute co founded in 2007. The organization is called Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), and it is dedicated to helping all women gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their full individual potential. The new center is a place where women can be educated, empowered and encouraged through tough times during their lives.

Thanks Getty Images :-) MJB, Steve Stoute, and Frida Giannini

Mary J Blige speaking to supporters of FFawn & Mary J Blige Center

This is a very personal cause to Blige who herself has struggled with domestic violence and drug abuse in the past. "As a child, I never saw a confident woman; I only saw women being abused," said Blige, a Yonkers native. "That's why I am here; that's why FFAWN exists. I want every girl and woman who walks through this door to know that she is loved, no matter who is telling her she isn't loved."

Congratulations and thank you to Mary J Blige, Gucci's Frida Giannini and the Westchester Jewish Community Services program for making this center possible.

Janelle Monae in vogue

Janelle Monae is featured in the November issue of Vogue wearing these shoes that I simply despise; I took a disliking to the shoes when I saw a photo of her at the Black Girls rock event a few weekends ago. Kudos to Janelle for making it in the magazine but I still don’t like those shoes. I guess George Esquivel is not the designer for me.

Discipline: Is Yelling The New Spanking?

I have a very active 2 year old son, and those of you who have met him know exactly the level of energy he has. I will admit I yell at him at times, and I notice he yells at me or at his imaginary friends while playing. I get embarrassed when he does that because I realize he is only mimicking me.

Gavin Taylor at Chucky Cheese over the Summer

I've tried getting at eye level and talking to him calmly, I've tried time outs, I've tried spankings and he still does not behave the way I think he should. He gives his dad a little less problem, but nerveless he still has issues with him to when it comes to listening. I refer to him as a selective listener, because he listens when he want to.

It's so hard not to get frustrated at a child that you know is smart and understands exactly what you say, but chooses to do what he want to do. The Bible says "Spare the rod, spoil the child" and “Train him up the way he should be taught" but society says otherwise, so what is a parent to do? I recently came across this video on CNN, and posted it because I want to know what other parents think about discipline methods especially what is appropriate for a 2 ½ yr old.

Disney May Owe You $15.99

If you've purchased a Baby Einstein DVD between June 2004 and September 2009 you may be eligible for a refund of 15.99. Disney is finally admitting that the so called educational DVDs that were marketed to parents as educational tools that would make your baby or toddler smarter is bologna.

Baby Eiinstein DVD Collection included in the suit

As a result of the Campaign For a Comercial-Free Childhood (CCFC) 2006 Federal Trade Commission complaint, Disney stopped claiming that Baby Einstein videos were educational for infants, but the company made no attempt to compensate parents who purchased the products. CCFC’s ongoing campaign to stop the false and deceptive marketing of baby videos finally persuaded the Walt Disney Company to offer a full refund to anyone who purchased a Baby Einstein DVD in the last five years. The refund is only available for a limited time, so please spread the word. I have a few claims to make myself. Click here for refund guidelines

The Baton Rouge Film Boom

Atlanta has been fairly busy in the film/production industry, but Baton Rouge is not far behind. According to the Associated press: Raleigh Studios, the California-based film company managing the Celtic Media Centre, has reached an agreement with 1st Call Studio Equipment for that company to provide heavy equipment needed to make movies at Celtic’s Baton Rouge operation.

In recent years Louisiana has quickly become one of the most popular states for film and television production. Boosted by the state’s lucrative 30% investor tax credit, the industry has grown immensely and continues to spread its roots and deepen the depths of its crew base.

Earlier this year Celtic Media finished  Phase 1 of the 23-acre film lot with purpose-built spaces for each phase of filmmaking: planning, producing, shooting, editing, post-production, eating and waiting as well. This month the Celtic Media Center hosts the cast and crew of Battle: Los Angeles, a sci-fi action film from Columbia Pictures that stars Aaron Eckhart as a Marine leading the human resistance against an alien invasion. Battle is the first big-budget studio film that Celtic has attracted to its new campus.

Where are Our News Stories? Please Read & Share

A few weeks ago I posted a story on missing California woman Miltrice Richardson who was released from a detention center in the middle of the night and never seen again. It has been over a month and to my knowledge this young lady has yet to be found. In early October her parents were asking for the FBI to get involved with this case, as of post time I did not find any official documents that said they had taken on the case.

I’m saddened because we have allowed our media, yes “OUR” because we shape what they cover; no complaints and they will continue to disregard our news stories that are not sports or entertainment related when it comes to “African Americans.” This is disgraceful, when Lacy Peterson, Casey Anthony, Sommer Johnson, Natalie Holloway, Balloon Boy went missing we are bombarded with story after story of news coverage on every station. As if these people lives or more valuable than the black children and adults that go missing daily.

Did you know there where 10 black women missing or dead, in Rocky Mount NC, me either until I read a story on Newsweek on Friday. If we don’t stand up for something what will we stand up for. When it’s your family of friend you are going to want equal coverage as well, so we can not just sit around and wait until that day comes. We only have 2 AA stations BET & Tvone and neither of them have a daily full coverage news program regretfully. I know there is more going on in Black America than a “Black in America” Special on CNN once a year.

We have specific health issues, financial matters, missing people, crimes, grants and programs, education, business, politics, entertainment, concerns just as the rest of the world. If Telemundo and the 42 other Hispanic channels can have several news programs and we don’t have 1 as a people we should truly be ashamed. Where are our priorities my people?

I’m frustrated as you can probably tell with my writing so I’m going to ring this in. We really need to analyze what we stand for in our country. We have a black President, a Latino Supreme Court Justice, Top Athletes & Entertainers, Top Movie producers and Execs and this is what we are settling for. Wendy Williams, Tyra Banks, Oprah, & Monique Congrats to you sisters, but the bus should not just stop there.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Miltrice Richardson is asked to call the LAPD Missing Persons Unit, Detective Kristin Merrill at (213) 485-5381. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Callers may also text “crimes” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on web tips. When using a cell phone all messages should begin with “LAPD.” Tipsters may remain anonymous

In Case You Missed It: First Lady Michelle Obama on Jay Leno Friday

Michelle's Glam squad is the bomb. Her makeup is flawless, and she is such a classy lady. I think the Obama's are true examples of Americans, and I am so glad to be under their leadership. It would be great if more young people would aspire to obtain the class and stature of women like this than the likes of a models or entertainers. It only takes one.

Economic Outlook for Baton Rouge

(Article Excerpts Source the Associated Press)

America's strongest economies have one thing in common -- home prices that never got too hot or too cold. Home prices in metros such as San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, Rochester, Little Rock, Ark., and Baton Rouge, La., remained steady through boom and bust. Although no metropolitan area entirely avoided the economic downturn, the most resilient metros were protected by a potent mix of recession-resistant jobs.

BusinessWeek.com used data and analysis from the Brookings Institution's new MetroMonitor to come up with the nation's 40 strongest economies. The MetroMonitor, which measures the nation's health on a quarterly basis, ranks the top 100 metros based on job growth, unemployment, gross metropolitan product, and home prices.

A relative boom in Baton Rouge
"No place has been untouched by this recession. This is a change from previous recessions," said Alan Berube, a senior fellow and research director of the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program. "But there's a big difference in losing one-tenth of a percentage and losing 15% of jobs."

Baton Rouge, which was ranked No. 6, "grew jobs every month until August 2009 and in August it only lost nine-tenths of a percent, compared to 5.1% nationally," said Lauren C. Scott, professor emeritus of economics at Louisiana State University.

Scott said $5.1 billion of construction projects have been announced or are under construction in the Baton Rouge metro, including a new plant for French chemical company SNF and the expansion of an ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM - News) chemical plant. <--Thats where my honey works.

That's Good To know :-)

The Obama Family Portrait

President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, sit for a family portrait in the Green Room of the White House, Sept. 1, 2009.
(Official White House Photo)

Shout Out to the Obama Family for all of there hard work, dedication, sincerity and leadership they have shown us. They are our real life Cosby show; they are paving the way for so many generations behind them and setting a good example of how powerful any black family can be.

It's moments like this in history we must not forget, or take for granted because for so long our history has been taken away from us, or belittled, but this is a major development of our history coming full circle. We always have and always will be able to accomplish anything we want to in life. We just have to get out of our own way. If you have children remind them of their history and why they should be proud to be an African American, educate them instill in the history of there ancestors so when they go to school they can walk with there heads held high. Let them know they come from a victorious heritage, the same heritage that you too belong to.

Bedroom Boots

What is it with us women and shoes? No matter how many pairs we own, there is always room for a new pair. Sometimes you have to get a little creative when you want your mate to buy you expensive things. $365 for pair of boots is pricey for me, especially since we are on a save money tip. I’m am praying that the powers that be at Aldo, Steve Madden or Nine West come out with a similar version of these boots quick, so I can afford and sneak in the house on my own. If not I think I have an idea.

Ok ladies, you can show your significant other these sexy boots and tell him you would like to wear them in the bedroom, that’s right, now he’s focusing on the image of you wearing the boots and not the price tag and now you’ve just got you a new pair of boots thanks to me. These Dolce Vita Marilyn Boots are officially on my Nov 8th Birthday with list, hoping the universe and the powers that be make this happen. I will also be pitching this bedroom boots idea at home, its going to be a little harder for me because I own over 75 pair of shoes and boots already and we just agreed that no more shoes are boots are coming in this house just last. And then I found these…long sigh.

Stella McCartyney for Gap Kids

Stella McCartney has joined forces with babyGap and GapKids to create a 70-piece collection that will be launched on November 2 at select Gap stores in the US. The collection’s sizes run from newborn to children up to age 12 and prices ranges from $14 for wool tights through to $128 for a military-style jacket.  Cute stuff, I will have to see what I can pick up for Gavin. Here are some pieces from the collection.

My Adidas By PPQ

When I was 21 I brought a pair of classic retro Adidas that were iridescent ivory with dark red patent stripes, they had the double straps across and XXX pattern on the sole. Can you believe I still have those sneakers and I only wore them once; for some reason they look more like art or collectables than shoes to wear. Since "shell toes" were never my thing, those are the only pair I’ve ever owned.

Adidas a lot like New Balance, Nike and Puma have collaborated with designers on select collections to appeal to more fashion conscious consumers. In the past they featured a collection by Stella McCartney, Jeremy Scott, and rapper Missy Elliot to name a few, and next up is the British label PPQ (Pretty Personal Question)

PPQ’s co-founder Amy Molyneaux says they referenced Mohammad Ali’s original boxing attire for inspiration for the collection. The line includes lace- up boots, flats, stirrup pants, sweatshirts, dresses and other fashion forward workout gear that can be worm for functionality or simply for fashion. From the look of things, this was a pretty hot collaboration.

Each month, ShoeDazzle's personal stylists (Kim K & team) sends their members a custom email with five new shoe choices, handpicked to suit her personality and fashion preferences. The member logs into the site to make her selection, and it gets shipped out for free. Monthly membership costs $39, which covers the shoes and shipping. And yes you get to keep the shoes. There is no obligation to purchase shoes once you register, and you are charged only after you choose your first pair of shoes. In any month, you may select the "Skip This Month" button in your account section between the 1st and 5th of the month and you will not be charged. Poetic Moments: So Many things

I am like a crime mystery yet to be solved, the best detective in the world got a job on his hand with me.
I am like a 7 year old little girl on a toy shopping spree.
I am often like the sun rising and going down; I am like a shadow, sometimes showing and other times can’t be found.
I am like a fluffy dog, mans best friend and a guard dog at night; I am like a tunnel, only one way in or out and full of bright lights.
I am like a young school girl awaiting a crushes phone call; I am like a fatherless child with no one to teach me how to catch a my ball.
I am like a lost one on some days and confused on others; I am found on most days and insightful to others.
I am like a happy soul creeping through the night; I am like a strong wind, I uplift the kites.
The kites bring smiles to those below and beauty to the blue skies
I am like so many things so many times, I am like whatever words or images come to my mind.

Music Monday Leona Lewis "Happy"

Leona Lewis has a beautiful voice, here is her latest single "Happy", of her second album Echo due out in November 2009. The man that punched Lewis in the head at a book signing in London last week has been charged. Leona was the winner of 2006 X-factor talent competition the British version of America Idol. Since her win she has become a multi-platinum selling artist and has received several Grammy nominations and numerous awards. Check out her new video "Happy" here:

Music Monday Alicia Keys "Doesn't Mean Anything"

Alicia premiered her new video exclusively on Perez Hilton's website today. Even though most urban bloggers reposted the video, some didn't support Keys decision. Politics aside, she looks very pretty in the video and I like the song. Check it out.

Music Monday: Queen Latifah ft. Missy Elliot "Fast Car"

I'm feeling Queen Latifah's New dance track featuring Missy Elliot, it has a lot of energy, much different some of her latest slower ballads that she released. Hopefully radio will be nice to the record and give it some airtime. Common, Paula Patton, Robin Thicke, Angie Martinez and Jada Kiss made special apperance in the video. Check it out.

Watch New FOX Sitcom Brothers Tonight at 8pm

I'll be the first to admit, I almost forgot about this show Brothers, the last two Friday's I was not at home but tonight I will be. Now that the weather is rapidly switching up most of you will be in the house tonight too. The show comes on Fox at 8pm but be sure to check your local listings for time zone changes; I'm on Central time now so I have to check to.
The show is loosely based on Football star Micheal Strahans family it stars Michael (Michael Strahan) and Chill (Darryl “Chill” Mitchell) who are two siblings that have never gotten along. Chill is confined to a wheelchair following a car accident and struggling to keep his local sports bar afloat. Michael, an ex-football star, is penniless after being fleeced by his manager and has spent the past few months living off of his fame in New York City. Thanks to the prodding of a loving mother, expertly played by CCH Pounder, they realize that working together (and living together at home with Mom and Dad) may be the only way to move forward. Carl Weathers as the batty family patriarch is a pleasant surprise, CCH Pounder is dazzling as always, and Chill is good for the same laughs he delivered bumping the table in House Party. The dialogue seems authentically black and funny without resorting to “coonin.” ( excerpts in this paragraph are from whatwouldthembido.com)

If you are in the house or have TiVo lets give this positive black family sitcom a try. Watch the preview here now:

Tyra a.k.a. Bankable Productions is Really Banking

According to Forbes Tyra Banks is more than a media mogul in the making, she is a mogul. Tyra is the top of their 2009 television earner list, with an estimated earning of $30 million over a 12 month span from all of her television projects combined. These shows include: The Tyra Banks Show, America’s Next Top Model and producer credits on CW’s Stylista and ABC’s True Beauty and cameos on Gossip Girl. Bankable Productions is really banking. Congrats Tyra.

Her newest venture is Tyra magazine, pictured to the left seems to be coming along. I tried to view it in it's entirety but was not able to do so from http://www.tyrabanks.com . She is definitely appreciating the path that Oprah has paved for black women in media and she is creating her own path for others to follow as well. As I stated before I think Tyra is a great role model, she is a little over the top at times on her shows, but that's what make her Tyra.

In Case You Forgot what Obama Has Done for Us Lately

The Obamas leaving church Sunday Oct 11, 2009

Following last weeks announcement of Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize win, a lot of people came out of the woodwork with negative reactions and responses as to why he shouldn’t receive the award. Immediately I wanted to go off, because I personally am sick and tired of people disrespecting our president, belittling him, and always looking for something negative to say about him. I commend President Obama on being the FIRST black President of the United states, for bring races together and for bringing out the true racist characteristics of those who have been racist all along.

People can say what they want about former President Bush & the rest of them but the fact remains that World Health Organization’s report that ranks the U.S. 37 of 39 industrialized countries. The same report shows that we have more people dying of curable diseases than Canada, France and England. This is not President’s Obama’s fault; he is the one actually trying to do something about this epidemic.

In a mere 9 mine months these are some of the things he accomplished as President:
• Pulled the economy back from the brink of depression. Continued President Bush’s bank bailout/stimulus programs.
• Began the process of reforming health care in this country.
• Signed the Lily Ledbetter fair-pay law that finally gives parity to women in employment.
• Expanded the SCHIP children’s health program.
• Began funding embryonic stem-cell research.
• Saved the American car industry.
• Began closure of the detention center at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station in Cuba.

I think his black side and his white side has done a great job so far. Of course I don’t agree with every single decision or statement that he has made, but I do RESPECT him for what he has done and won’t simply stand by and let people belittle his accomplishments. Be proud of your President, I am.

Will You Be My Friend? Circle Yes or No

I’m enjoying being in a new city, I’m just wondering what’s the best way to make new friends as an adult.

Most of my friends I’ve had for years, some for over 20 years and I’m only 27. Your old friends know who you are, they have a little history on you, they know my family etc. When you meet someone new at my age are you suppose to give them a crash course on your life? I don’t want to have to tell my life story to every person I meet, but I do want to make a connection with some ladies in this city. Even if I tell them my back story as a writer, blogger, graphic designer, marketing consultant, former owner of a magazine, from New Jersey but lived in Atlanta for 9 years and San Antonio for 2 years before that; will they be able to identify, respect or understand who I am. Ok, I might be jumping the gun a little, of course I don’t have to tell them all of that at first sight, but that’s who I am, in addition to being a mother and a fiancĂ©.

Being in Atlanta, there are tons of upwardly mobile people, so It was easy to find things in common with these women; unfortunately I have yet to see that same type of entrepreneurial spirit here. Most of the women are heavy into sports, nightclubs, rodeos and racetracks. Don’t get me wrong I can see the excitement in some of that, we went to the horse racetrack on Saturday and I had a great time. But where are my fashionistas, business divas, and savvy mommies at in Baton Rouge?

Thankfully the women that I’ve come across at stores, restaurants, the salon and my fiancĂ©s friends wives have all had warm spirits, but after a little small talk I wasn’t sure that we had to much in common. When I tell them I moved here from Atlanta, they look at me like I have 4 heads like “why would you do that” LOL.

I have met a few people on twitter from the area that I recently began socializing with and I’m excited to see how those relationship develop. Outside of that I’m sort of left scratching my head. I know it’s only been a week so help me out do you have any suggestions on how I can make new friends?

Shopping While Black?

Earlier this year ABC aired a social experiment on racial profiling while shopping. Hold on to your pearls while you watch this video but be mindful most of the players are actors. Even though this is a social experiment, I'm sure some people out there have experienced this type of shopping while black racism. Later on this week I will share with you, some of the racism I've experienced here in Louisiana and I will touch on the racism that has resurged since Barack Obam made it into office.

When Oppurtunity Knocks, I'm Ready

It’s a heavy burden to carry when you have a child relying on you to provide for, a man who is expecting you to be the woman he knows you can be, or being that daughter your parents can be proud of. I’ve heard men say they have the weight of the world on their shoulders, but let me tell you that is an extremely heavy feeling. Now that I am in a new city and getting back in the game, I will keep praying that the right opportunity will come my way.

I want my website to be transparent, a little different from some other blogs. I peak into the lives of celebs, but I also want to give you a peak into my life. Let’s be honest running a business is not always peaches and cream. You have highs and lows like anything else in life. It’s what you turn to during those periods that matter most.

A lot of business websites I visit, only reveal the glorious side but where do you turn for the not so good moments. No one writes about how you’ve been waiting on a client check to come in the mail so you can pay a bill, or what to do when no checks are coming in the door at all. If you have a big business you might not be able to identify with these problems, excuse me while I talk with us little people.

It’s my goal to deliver rich content that can not only entertain you, but can help you through the good times and motivate you during the bad times. I first hand understand, but I’m on my way back up; are you coming with me?

Don't Call it a Comeback but Obviously...

This is the year of comebacks for R&B divas. Toni Braxton will be releasing her 6th studio album Pulse, later this fall. She is working with the “oh so sexy” Trey Songz on a record and should be releasing a brand new single very soon. A few tracks are floating around the internet and I like what I've heard so far, but we will have to wait on an official single to be released by her camp.

Would You Give Up QT with your mate for your Cell Phone

Recently a survey done in Denver found that 33 percent of Denver-area women would put their sex lives on hold for a year in order to use a mobile device. Hmm this got me thinking, I'll be the first to admit I'm a cellphone-a-hollic. Its the last thing I'm on at night, often checking twitter or email and playing bejeweld. It's the first thing I grab for when I wake up in the morning and it's constantly by my side during the day, but I don’t think I would give up love making for my device. I can spare 30-45 minutes a day, especially a night cap.

Do I care about my cell phone more than my boyfriend of course not. Could I leave the house without it and not panic, of course not. It's a love hate relationship with my phone and QT time. My fiancé joined twitter 2 months ago to see why I was always on there so much. since he's not a techy he has less that 5 twitter friends and doesn't have a real clue on what twitter is all about.

The survey, conducted in September by Samsung Mobile, also found that only 20 percent of men would make the same choice. I can definitely understand that, since most men think about "doing the do" every chance they get.

Are So In Style Barbie's on your Christmas List?

So In Style Barbie Collection

Meet Grace, Trichelle, Kara and there little sisters Janessa, Courtney, and Kiana the newest members of the premanent all black So In Style Barbie Collection (S.I.S). Oh how I wish these dolls were around when I was growing up. I remeber having a really dark Barbie and a light brown one growing up; the rest were all white dolls. Not to mention the black dolls would always sell out the fastest, so my mom would have to get them way before the holidays set in.

These new So In Style Barbie’s come in 3 skin tones: dark chocolate, milk chocolate and caramel. Oh I love how they compare us to sweets. The story lines of the dolls reflect the personality, style, hair texture, make up, body and facial features more rellevant to the african american community. In my opinion some of the modifications are questionable but Mattel has come along way and I am happy about that.

The thing I like the most about this collection is the dolls were made to inspire mentoring in our communities, by pairing the big dolls each with a little sister. The story lines further explain the encouraging relationships the dolls have with each other. No word yet of a Black Male doll so how long these dolls will be single. It sure took Barbie long enough to come out with this line, I guess with all of the other doll competition these days they decided to step there hame up. Never less, It’s never to late to uplift our young girls and that's what these dolls were created to do. Please keep these dolls in mind  for upcoming birthdays and Holidays they will make great gifts. You can click here to find out more about the collection

My Nappy Hair Trailer vs. Good Hair Trailer

Here is the Trailer from the "My Nappy Roots" the documentary by film maker Regina Kimbell, who is filling suit against Chris Rock alleging that his "Good Hair" movie infringes on the copyright for her award-winning documentary. Kimball says that she showed “My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage,” to Rock two years ago. The lawsuit claims that there are major similarities between the two films, including the inspiration (their daughters) and the interviews with medical pros, celebs and comedians. Both filmmakers also visit hair relaxer manufacturing plants and touch on India’s involvement in providing hair for weaves. I will admit the trailers for both films are very similar, it's just Chris is better financed and has a more comedic feel. Check out “My Nappy Roots” below then check out the “Good Hair” one after.

Throwback Thursday Whitney, Kelly Price & Faith "Heartbreak Hotel"

Whitney Houston Faith Evans Kelly Price - Heartbreak hotel This was a awesome collaboration.

I love my Roll But....

I love my roll but, I don’t think I would be on the cover of any magazine naked; with clothes on absolutely. I'm not the size 6 that I used to be regretfully, but I'm ok with my size 10/12 frame. Personally I would atleast like to drop 15-20 pounds, so I can be healthier for my height and so my clothes will lay better.

Most people always say oh you don't look like you weigh ... That's because I know how to dress for my size, my mother always taught me no one else needs to see your rolls while you have on clothes. So I live by that mantra, If I see a roll through my clothes, I put on a better under garment or change my complete outfit.

I'm all for women with curves because that's naturally feminine to me and that’s what I grew up around. Box or straight up and down is abnormal to me, but society tells us otherwise. In the November Issue of Glamour, they feature 7 beautiful models on the cover who are considered plus size (12 & up)

Models from Oh Wow, These Bodies Are beautiful in Nov Glamour Mag

Beautiful picture, my only gripe is why did they have to be naked? Nudity in magazines always gets people talking, so it’s likely the women wore their birthday suits as a publicity move. Or perhaps the models didn’t wear clothes because fashion companies, except for plus-size brands, don’t make clothes that fit them properly. Personally I don't consider my self plus size, I can still shop in regular stores but if I don't loose a few pounds, my choices will be limited by the brands I love to wear. Thank God, one of my favorite stores, Forever 21 extended there size range but the line is only carried in select stores. Check out the full interview with these ladies in Novembers’ Glamour.

In Case You Missed It: Nas talks with CNN's Don Lemon

CNN took some time out to speak with Nas about his community stand after the violent beating death of Chicago teenager, Derrion Albert. As previously reported, Nas tried to relate to the youth involved in the homicide by penning an ‘Open Letter To Young Warriors'. Now just days later Young Escobar made an appearance on CNN to talk further about the situation with correspondent, Don Lemon.

The casual meeting between the two appeared as though it would be another opportunity to talk about Nas's compelling opinion on the tragic situation, but unfortunately for him the network had other plans. The media giant didn't miss the opportunity to fire a few shots at the artist and emphasized some of the most violent lyrics he'd ever written. They opened up the segment with a playback of “Shoot Em Up” from his Nastradamus album and displayed the lyrics to the chorus that say,

“Shoot em up, just shoot em up, what…kill kill kill, murder, murder, murder.”

Following that Lemon cut to the chase and asked him about glorifying violence in his music. Obviously on the defensive, he answered saying:

“I feel it's the obvious thing for the media to kinda point out one of the most violent lyrical records that I made….I made a lot of records about children…not a lot but I made records about children, about struggle and those are never the songs that are talked about. There's no love for these songs. There's only attention put on the songs where there's violence in it but the reality of it is, I'm only speaking about reality.”

When asked by Lemon if he would consider changing some of his lyrics, he stayed true to himself and stayed 100% honest saying:

“Never. Never. Music comes from life. I write about what I see. I write about what I live. I write about what I see other people live and I use a little bit of imagination to talk to them.”

Continuing on his rant, he eventually made the most quotable statement of the night when he so boldly said,

“A rap song influencing violence in the 21st century is a joke.”

A joke Nas? Really?
The correspondent continued grilling the MC for the rest of the interview, even asking a valid question about why Chicago lyricists like Kanye and Common haven't spoken out on the situation before ending the conversation.

Check out the interview here.
