Atlanta has been fairly busy in the film/production industry, but Baton Rouge is not far behind. According to the Associated press: Raleigh Studios, the California-based film company managing the Celtic Media Centre, has reached an agreement with 1st Call Studio Equipment for that company to provide heavy equipment needed to make movies at Celtic’s Baton Rouge operation.
In recent years Louisiana has quickly become one of the most popular states for film and television production. Boosted by the state’s lucrative 30% investor tax credit, the industry has grown immensely and continues to spread its roots and deepen the depths of its crew base.
Earlier this year Celtic Media finished Phase 1 of the 23-acre film lot with purpose-built spaces for each phase of filmmaking: planning, producing, shooting, editing, post-production, eating and waiting as well. This month the Celtic Media Center hosts the cast and crew of Battle: Los Angeles, a sci-fi action film from Columbia Pictures that stars Aaron Eckhart as a Marine leading the human resistance against an alien invasion. Battle is the first big-budget studio film that Celtic has attracted to its new campus.
